Summary

Travel an extinct China from your armchair and avoid the efforts of exotic experiences.

China With Love walks you through WWII China during the Japanese invasion period. General Stillwell ordered American officers into the Chinese military to oversee ordnance distribution (armaments). Originally, some two hundred were to go, but the Japanese had decimated the Chinese military, and only seventeen were finally sent.

The author, Lou Glist, now a Kiwanian, carefully recorded his experiences in words and pictures, which he sent back to his wife. This China no longer exists, as the cultural revolution eradicated the whole culture, even the money pictured on the cover.

Glist describes the events so clearly that you can almost smell the odors and scents of China. He drew so well you can feel the dust on your shoes. You can feel the foreign experience of a young American in a strange but important world on a desperate and dangerous mission, to help the Chinese defeat the Japanese on WWII!

His art work now hangs in the Liu Chow museum and the book is published in a Chinese edition for commemorating the event 50 years later.

Strange and colorful characters emerge, along with exotic places and foods. All of this goes on during the famous CBI hump flyers' excursions in their planes—cold, alone, without radar or directions to their final destinations.

Not only will you feel China in a way you never have before, you will also appreciate the great sacrifices our soldiers made in WWII on the Asian fronts.

Join Officer Glist for a fascinating trip on a great mission in a time long gone.

If you have read this far, you probably need to read this book. We will work with you, too. You can always tell your library to order this book. They need to buy it anyway. After all, you are not the only one in your city with an interest in China, WWII and CBI.
